Who are our ideal clients?

Our ideal clients are couples (where both parties) are dedicated to reaching their relationship goals. This means that they are ready to invest time, money, and resources into making an amazing relationship become a reality. They are highly motivated individuals who are honest about where they are at in their relationship. They have a sense of urgency to get the tools to change their relationship and create the life they want. Our ideal clients are determined and invested in their relationship and understand that their goals are attainable, they just need the strategies and accountability to assist them along the way.

You could be our ideal client if:

  • If you and your partner both agree that couples therapy is the best choice for your relationship
  • You are tired of just talking about changing or enhancing your relationship and you are ready to turn it into an actual reality.
  • You are about to get married soon and want to make sure you and your partner are on the same page before saying, “I do!”
  • You are currently in a long-term relationship or marriage and having difficulty in a few major areas (i.e. communication, finances, infidelity, intimacy) and finally ready to obtain help from a licensed professional.

How do I know if Kiaundra is the right fit for me?

I am a highly motivated person who believes that relationship goals are attainable. Solution-focused, not problem-based is my focus. Translation, if you come to me and tell me you have the goal to enhance/change your relationship or marriage, I do not take it lightly. I work best with couples who are open and honest about the current state of their relationship and who DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES. My ideal client is ready to do the work to get the results they desire in their relationship or marriage. Whether you have just started a relationship, in a long-term relationship, engaged, newlyweds, or have been married for years, I provide the resources, help, support, encouragement, and the practical advice needed to make a relationship thrive.

My ideal clients want me to work closely with them and walk them step-by-step through the process of enhancing or transforming their relationship. They also do not want me to allow them to make any excuses along the way. If you or your partner are not willing to do the work it will take, I am not a good fit for you.

What separates us from relationship coaches?

There are several things that separate me from a relationship coach, one being that I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist that specializes in working with couples. In other words, I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, other specialized training and studied the importance of relationships. I have been recognized by the Huffington Post as one of the ’10 Black Female Therapists You Should Know.’ My solution-focused approach helps me take my clients from a good relationship to a great one, and from one of struggle to one of progression. I have helped countless couples increase their intimacy, learn effective two-way communication, and heal after affairs. My hope is to help as many couples as possible heal their relationships, prevent divorce, and keep families together.

How does couples therapy work?

It consists of weekly, 90 minute, face-to-face couples therapy sessions with a licensed professional. This also depends on which tier you are enrolled in. Our premarital package, Before You Say I Do, is designed to help couples who are on their way to the altar. This helps them solidify their relationship to make sure their core values are in full alignment with each other within 8 weeks. Our long-term relationship package, In it for the Long Haul, is designed for weekly sessions for 6 months. Our formula is heavily focused on getting back to the basics, affair repair or prevention, and addressing the top 3 relationship killers (money, sex, and communication).

What if it is not the right time to start couples therapy?

The honest answer to this question is if you could have figured it out on your own then you would have. If you were not concerned about your relationship, then you would not be seeking a professional to assist you. The timing may never feel “perfect” for you to make a change, but making the decision to start couples counseling is making the decision to CHOOSE you and prioritize your relationship. The longer you take to get started, the longer you delay the results that you are looking to see. Starting couples counseling could literally be the difference between having a relationship that survives to having a relationship that thrives.

How quickly can I expect to see results?

I tell my clients all the time that I cannot wave a magic wand to fix all their problems. Quite frankly, it depends on how committed you (and your partner) are to the process and your level of determination. We have seen client stay together after they were heading towards divorce. We have also seen client’s relationships turn from “good” to “great.” However, it all depends on YOU. I will give you everything you need to thrive, but it is up to you and your partner to implement those things into your relationship.
